How Dopey Can One Be?
I'm dopey on the dates of this and the next few posts. I don't have the exact dates, but they are in appropriate order. The dailies were skewed one direction, the book another. For all I know different papers ran different strips (not likely). Here I've put them in the order that seems to make sense. Let's just go with that, shall we?
Sorry to go a little OT on you, but I just discovered a true ancient tale with Albert and Pogo reproduced at Ten Cent Dreams. Pogo is virtually unrecognizable, save that he is named.
ReplyDeleteEarly Kelly is amazing to look at, seeing as his style evolved in a mere 10 years to the apogee (in my opinion) of his artistic quality. Pandemonia may have been a magnum opus for Kelly, but I think 1952 through 1954 was the very best period of his work, arising out of the cornpone of Animal Comics.
ReplyDeleteThanks Daniel, I look forward to seeing what else comes out of Ten Cent Dreams. And we can see all those ancient tales over at http://goldenagecomics.co.uk/
