Interplanetockle Personality

This is the first example of our run that shows the extra panel that is dropped from a tabloid format. It must not have been easy to write in a panel that wasn't necessary, yet would have to carry the story when it did run. This panel is courtesy of Ger Apeldoorn of The Fabulous Fifties.

  1. I already mentioned this on Ger's blog: You know that Kelly's first Prehysteria story appeared in Animal Comics 21, from 1946, right? Well worth including here as an interesting precursor to the sequence.

  2. Already, this site has become my first stop on the Information Superhighway every morning! Thanks again for sharing!

  3. Eric—yes I've looked at that story and it's ripe for posting. I have some low-res scans I could use, but I prefer higher-res for Kelly stuff. Did I see that you might have that, and be willing to share? That would be really cool, otherwise I'll use the low-res. My email is over on the profile. Thanks.

Steven— It was your enthusiasm for the Kelly posts over on the Pictorial Arts that led me to do this 'blog. And hopefully, with the buzz you've already stirred up, more people will take an interest in Kelly. So thank YOU again!

  4. What resolution did you want? I can do that when I get home from work tonight.

  5. Normally I would say a 300 dpi/ppi scan, then I would color correct, and then resize it to 100 dpi/ppi. But if it makes it easier to send, it could just go directly to 100. Either way.

Thank you very much, that will be a nice intro just before the continuity goes to Pandemonia.

  6. They're on the way. I sent you the whole story at 96 edited, and page one at 300 raw. Let me know if you want the rest of the raws instead; I really prefer working with TIFFs until the very last stage and I can't send 300 DPI TIFFs with my e-mail. But if you would rather edit the jpegs yourself I'm happy with that, too.
