Just as I was getting ready to post this strip, the timing was fortuitous that I received an email package from Michel Francois. It contained original art scans, found on the internet, for this particular strip. This is a sweet strip and to see the original blue pencils is very informative, such as making the little guy littler, not needing to ink another ear, etc.

Beautiful! I always enjoy looking at an artist's pencils before inking and this is even better... sort of a peek over Kelly's shoulder! His line work is so expressive. Thanks for the great post!!
ReplyDeleteYow, I love this stuff. Look at it closely and imagine each brush stroke as it happened, thick, lush, assured. It's like calligraphy that assembles into an image. And the lettering itself is bold and beautiful, assumably inked by Kelly's assistant, at the time, Henry Shikuma.
ReplyDeleteThank's too .. but nothing miraculous, just look at : http://www.cartoonartoriginals.com or
